About the TY Festival
The Douglas Hyde, in collaboration with students from our TY Work Experience Project, is delighted to present our second TY Festival to coincide with Cruinniú na nÓg 2023.
TY Festival is a day-long programme for transition year students and home-educated students from across the country (aged 15 to 18) to learn, play and explore their creativity through art-making labs.
About the Labs
We will be offering two different art-making labs throughout the day. Both labs were designed and developed by students from our TY Work Experience Project and will give the participants the opportunity to engage in creative thinking through animation, sound and music.

Participants in this interactive Animation Lab will use their imaginations to discuss and visually explore the nature of memory. The lab will consider questions like: What is memory? Participation Requirements
As these labs will be delivered at The Douglas Hyde, you will need to be able to travel into Dublin City centre on the day of the programme.
All the materials will be provided on the day.
Place Allocation
There are a total of 15 places for each of the labs. Places will be allocated randomly by a lottery system. Half of the placements will be allocated to students from DEIS schools who will also be chosen randomly.
We will send offers of places by email including your parent/guardian to let them know.
The art-making labs are free but an application is required. If you wish to apply, please see the link at the bottom of this page.
Online Resources
The outcome of the workshops will be two collaborative artworks featuring everyone’s work which will be launched and presented at The Douglas Hyde in September 2023.
