Critical Mapping Workshop
Tuesday 24 June, 2pm
Join us for a workshop to map the terrain of art criticism in Ireland, led by curator Sara Muthi and PVA co-editor Nathan O’Donnell.
PVA Journal has been in operation since 2009 as an online and in-print publisher of contemporary art criticism. Over these fifteen years, much has evolved and changed in the cultural landscape. This workshop seeks to identify the realities for those working or hoping to work in this field, as critics, editors, art writers, art workers. Through reflection and open conversation with participants, we explore obstacles as well as opportunities in the field, and look at the role that galleries, publishers, funders and other cultural organisations play in facilitating the work of criticism and criticality in relation to art practice.
Places are limited so we are inviting expressions of interest from anyone who would like to take part in this discursive session, a first step in what we intend to be an evolving collaborative process.
