Yuyan Wang

In conversation with Emma Moore

The Douglas Hyde is delighted to present an artist talk by Yuyan Wang on the occasion of her first solo exhibition in Ireland. In conversation with the exhibition curator Emma Moore, the artist delves into her practice and works in the exhibition.

Working primarily in film, Wang excavates the vast landscape of digital imagery, distilling hours of found footage into compelling films. Through her rhythmic editing, and punctuated by distinct soundtracks, Wang deconstructs and recontextualises images to consider ideas of extraction, production and waste. For her exhibition at The Douglas Hyde, Wang presents existing film works alongside new works in progress in an immersive installation.
