Open Call Student Forum 2021|2022

Open Call

The Douglas Hyde Gallery is delighted to announce an open call for applications from third-level students to the fourth round of the gallery’s Student Forum. Following on from the success of the 2018|2019 Student Forum i, 2019|2020 Student Forum ii, and the2020| 2021 Student Forum iii, which saw three groups of undergraduate and postgraduate students from institutions across Ireland engaging with the Gallery’s programming, the gallery is pleased to now begin accepting applications for the next Student Forum.

About the Student Forum

The Student Forum is a group of students and recent graduates who engage with The Douglas Hyde and its programming in different ways over a period of twelve months. These engagements include leading tours of our exhibitions, participating in reading and discussion groups, and group trips to exhibitions and events. Through these engagements, Student Forum members bring their own research and artistic practices into reflections on the artworks they see, as well as into an ongoing interrogation of the purpose and possibilities of the gallery space.

Open to undergraduates and postgraduates from all fields of study, and across all institutions, the Student Forum will meet monthly during the academic year. We will provide an opportunity for professional development through practical training with expert mentorship. We are looking for people who are excited by the Gallery, its legacy and its current standing in the presentation of Irish and international visual art, and who are eager to learn about the production and exhibition of contemporary art.

About The Douglas Hyde

The Douglas Hyde Gallery is a contemporary art gallery. We support global and local artists to make new work and present exhibitions, always placing the artist at the centre of what we do. We believe that art plays a central role in shaping the world we live in, and that galleries are an essential public space in a progressive society. As a space, we value excellence, enquiry, experimentation and diversity. We know that art extends our understanding of ourselves and gives us new ways of thinking and of seeing the world.
