Worlding
Welcome to Worlding, a new publication conceived of and delivered by the Student Forum 2024, and edited by Niamh Darling, Provost’s Fellow in Curating.
Over the past year, The Student Forum have developed this publication in response to the themes of The Douglas Hyde’s programme. Taking inspiration from Deirdre O’Mahony’s video and sound work The Quickening, the group explore Donna Haraway’s concept of ‘worlding’ from various perspectives.
Notably, ‘worlding’ is an adverb. It suggests an ongoing process that requires sustained action and engagement. According to Haraway, worlding is “a becoming-with” other species on this earth. This demands a continuous effort to work alongside these critters and a commitment to “staying with the trouble.”
Each contributor reflects on this commitment, navigating existing entanglements and probing the generative potential of worlding.
Hard copies of the magazine are available at the gallery. The digital version can be downloaded from the link on this page.
