Spring Exhibition Handout

The Douglas Hyde Galley of Contemporary Art is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Ireland by artist and filmmaker Yuyan Wang.

Working primarily in film, Wang excavates the vast landscape of digital imagery, distilling hours of found footage into compelling films. Through her rhythmic editing, and punctuated by distinct soundtracks, Wang deconstructs and recontextualises images to consider ideas of extraction, production and waste.

Acknowledging the crucial role artists play in influencing and shaping other artistic practices, ‘The Artist’s Eye’ series asks those exhibiting in Gallery 1 to invite an artist of influence to present work in Gallery 2. In this instalment, Yuyan Wang has invited collaborator and composer Raphaël Hénard.
