Steve Bishop

The Artist's Eye

Acknowledging the crucial role artists play in influencing and shaping other artistic practices, ‘The Artist’s Eye’ series asks those exhibiting in Gallery 1 to invite an artist of influence to present work in Gallery 2. In this instalment, Yuri Pattison has invited London-based artist Steve Bishop.

Working across sculpture, installation and film, Bishop’s work often references the familiar or domestic. Through multi-layered environments, everyday objects are presented in their essence or abstracted, creating spaces which are non-places, in which things stand still. Through a poignant absence, interior states and emotions emerge.
