Response to a Request
Response to a Request was an art-writing publication that ran from August 2016 to July 2017. Over that time, it published twenty-two texts, each in response to an image that was of particular interest or value to the writer – this included a painting by Agnes Martin, a photograph by Andre Kertész, and another photo from the scene of Gianni Versace’s murder. These texts were available to read for a period of two weeks; after that, they disappeared.
The Douglas Hyde is delighted to host this one off event organised by Rebecca O’Dwyer, art writer, critic, and founding editor of Response to a Request. As a means of bringing the project to a close, three final responses will be shared: from the writer Mike McCormack, the artist Isabel Nolan, and the poet Stephen Sexton. As with all the other contributions, there will be no archive, no chance to hear them at a later date.
