Dr Eileen Culloty
Documenting War Through Art And Photography
On the occasion of Dublin Gallery Weekend, Dr Eileen Culloty will give a talk on her research. A documentary and news media researcher at the Institute for Future Media and Journalism, Dublin City University, she looks at the role of images in stimulating change, with an emphasis on climate change, war and conflict media.
For this talk, she will consider artistic works that convey the horror of war; convention and cliché in war photography; and alternative representations, focusing in part on the work of Abbas Akhavan, whose current exhibition variations on a garden, continues until January 20, 2018.
