Following a walkthrough with artist Atsushi Kaga, the 2025 Student Forum group bring their ideas together, and draw on conversations throughout the year, to present their final event.

The Student Forum will host a zine-making workshop which will explore the worlds of Atsushi Kaga. Kaga’s work blends personal stories with surreal characters, creating paintings which feel like something lifted from a fairytale. Participants will dive into Kaga’s use of symbolism and recurring figures as a starting point for making their own zines.
Throughout the workshop participants will build their own world, with its own imagined inhabitants. This will be translated into a pocket-sized zine inspired by the Student Forum’s past events. By the end of the session, each participant will leave with a zine that captures their invented world.

No prior drawing or writing experience needed just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring along any images, words, or ephemera to include in your zine.
