Grace Weir

A Reflection on Light

We are delighted to present the seventh iteration of our screening series with a work by Grace Weir.

Working across film, installation and performance, Weir explores how lived experiences relate to conceptual knowledge and theory. Her works habitually consider the act of making and the mediums in which they are made, creating a dialogue between the nature of ideas and the way in which thinking is materialised. Her fascinating 2015 essay film, A Reflection on Light, interlaces those concepts through an exploration of time mediated through a Cubist painting by Mainie Jellett and the multiple crossover relationships between memory and record, and history and the present.
