José Luis Guerín
Innisfree
The Douglas Hyde is delighted to present a rare screening of the documentary Innisfree (1990), directed by José Luis Guerín. The Spanish film-maker made this work across several towns in the rural west of Ireland, including Cong, Co. Mayo, revisiting the places where John Ford’s The Quiet Man (1952) had been filmed. Through his idiosyncratic blend of documentary and fiction, he considers Hollywood’s “colonisation of dreams and the imagination”.
Innisfree is 110 minutes long and is screened with permission from Los Films de Orfeo, Barcelona, Spain. The screening will take place in the JM Synge Lecture Theatre of the Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin.
All are welcome and there is no need to book a place.
